Tragedy

I cant believe the 2 back to back tragedies that happened withing the last week:

1) Bridge collapse in Minnesota
2) Miners trapped in UTAH

Well....there's no mines around mid- Michigan, But Im getting paranoid everytime I cross a bridge.
I was watching the news and they were saying that there are quite a few bridges in Michigan that need TLC.

There sure are...the Mighty Mackinac is one. That is why they are trying to raise the toll crossing price.

nahhh... I think they are trying to fix the budget....not the bridge

It's actually a bit of both. The Mackinac is in constant need of repair...it is the world's now, second largest suspension bridge in the world, and look how old it is.

They are always working on the bridge. I think there was only one time, when I have crossed (and I go over the bridge A LOT of times due to visiting the 'rents) that they haven't been focused on fixing it in some sort of way.

Bingo....diegosmom is right... when I crossed on vacation there was some sort of construction/fixing going on... although I have to say it didnt slow traffic.

Nothing slows traffic on the bridge uless there are high winds. In the winter they do slow the construction down though.

oh...Joe...There are mines in Michigan also..Mining ore...In the UP...one day let me know when you're going up and I'll let you know where to go to find them.

They do slow traffic down on the bridge for the construction...If you saw Dirty Jobs last night they showed just some of the things they're doing on the bridge itself.

Yeah... I know about the ore mines.....but there are fewer, and smaller operations.
I remember seeing a sign in Marquette at a Coin Laundry , that said :" No Mine Clothes Please". Guess it really messes up the machines.
That was a weird sign .... not used to it.
