Sex Ed In Schools
I think the younger the better to teach the children about sex education, I know in our day we were older, however times oh yes have changed. I talked to my daughter when she was in kindergarden about sex (even though she was disgusted) I think the kids now a days need to be prepared abour sex, drugs etc......

I agree, kids do need to know. It seems like they grow faster now than they used to, it's not at all unusual for a 9 year old to start her period or something.
I think it'd be ok for sex ed to be taught to fourth graders. My problem is the idea that so many parents would rely on ONLY that. My parents never talked to me about sex or puberty or anything. They thought that since I had the classes in 5th and 6th grade, I was good to go. That's not the case at all, however. Those classes only teach about how everything works and it's all scientific, and they preach only abstinance. They don't talk about the feelings that may be involved, and while every parent would want their child to abstain from sex, that is simply unrealistic. That is why if you're going to allow your child to take the classes at school, you need to find out what they're learning and then fill in the blanks, otherwise you're kid is going to be completely clueless about how to protect themselves. Sorry if that's a little long, it's something that makes me kinda mad. ![]() |
