How "politically correct" are we?

What the heck is up with being politically correct anyhow? is it because we dont have better things to do?
most folks see being p.c. as a form respect for other styles of life/religions....yet no one seems to respect the original holidays anymore...its now called a winter holiday... whatever...it will always be called christmas in america, for it is one word, just like coca cola (which btw is recognized all over the world)....people just fail to recognize the true meaning; no matter if its festivus or hannkuh --instead they spend more time figuring out what else to call it rather than celebrating its true meaning, it no matter what the heck it is called....

we need to spend more time realizing what the holiday is, rather than figuring out a new name for everyone else to waste time learning to say....and respect what ever each person calls it no matter what its called, instead of complaining about what they called it.

I think PC is stupid. If people would just lighten up and stop getting offended so easily, and everyone else would be more accepting then being PC wouldn't be even remotely neccessary.

I think that people are afraid of getting sued if they ARE NOT PC.
Not as individuals, but corporations and businesses are afraid of losing customers and money, so there we have it!
Deep insinde those people know what the real deal is but they just can't express it.
Think about it..... If someone won $$$ over Hot coffee at Mickey D, think about how much money they can make by being discriminated , offended , etc etc... all that ladies and gentlemen without the painful burn.

I understand the reasoning behind being PC. However, just because there happens to be a reason, it doesn't mean it's a good one.

You know it's really strange how things change! In the good ole days there were no : "time outs" or "there goes your allowance".
It was more like " I will knock you out....and then some if you dont straighten up!"
Naturally that doesnt mean you "ABUSE" the kid, you just give 'em a love top as a reminder of whose in control.
Schools had 10 commandments...... morning prayer...... etc etc.
Christmas was Christmas....... and everybody pretty much rolled with the system.
And you know? yesterdays world was alot less messed-up!
